  1. Sometimes it is necessary to take two sums and find the difference between them. For example, (Assets + Deferred Outflows) - (Liabilities + Deferred Inflows) = Net Position. Currently, this is only possible by summing all amounts and changing the signs on those technically being subtracted. I would like to be able to sum each set of numbers and copy the total amounts into the subtraction function or to use multiple calculator functions within one calculation.

  2. When clicking on export, there are two options: either export with all tickmarks and findings or export only the findings.
When choosing the second option, not all the comments we made on the report (by right-clicking) are included.
Often, we have comments for the company regarding the design of the report or the text, so it is important that they receive these as well.
I suggest adding an option to specify whether the comment is an exception or just for internal documentation.

  3. Tool to place ICs on repeated information such as company name, year end date, directors' name etc. If a user selects an information and place IC stamp once, then the tool needs to automatically apply ICs throughout the document wherever it is repeating.

  4. Comment regarding IC red to blue where the comment must be manually removed regarding “internal inconsistency noted”. It would be nice if it could be automatically deleted if the tickmark color changed to blue.

  5. Could internal consistency read Footnote numbers if they are aligned with the Financial Statement Captions on the face of the FS? In the current state, it has to be in a separate column to activate the automation.

  6. It would be helpful if reviewers were able to click on a hyperlinked IC tickmark in an exported PDF and have it take them to the other page(s) the value is tied out instead of manually having to search for the tie outs.

  7. After creating a cutom tickmark, it is not possible to make it the default tickmark for every new tickamrk applied. You would have to select each and every one of the new tickmarks (one by one) and change it to the custom tickmark created.

  8. When automatic suggestion for internal consitency are not given (which is the case in 99%) a user should manually do the ticking. In FSS in DS version 6 the user first needs to click on the number, then on the reference and then on the tickmark. This is one click more than in version 5.

It would be better if a user could click on the number in the balance sheet and P&L and immediatly can click on the reference and makes the tickmark. And the tickmarking is done automaticaly when there is only one reference.

  9. Some financial statements have notes references in parentheses next to each line item. The IC test in FSS does not recognize these note references because it is not in a note references column format, and does not provide suggestions. It would be great for DataSnipper to be able to recognize note references in this format in a Financial Statement so that the IC test can provide suggestions.

  10. It has happened to me several times that I have accidentally clicked on "Remove Suggestion", although I actually only wanted to change or remove a tick mark. I have not yet found a way to restore a suggestion other than by completely reinstalling it. An undo button would be helpful here, or the implementation of a keyboard shortcut such as Ctrl+Z. Ultimately, this applies to all entries in the tool, not just the suggestions.

  11. Using the internal consistency (IC) check, it’s the same onerous clicking problem as the PY consistency tool. You have to click on the reference that matches and then you have to click on the blue or red IC. Again, it would be helpful if it just automatically added the blue PY as a default.

  12. In some cases the tool is not picking up all the PY numbers in the PY check and then I need to manually add the PY’s. When you have to manually click each item twice (click the number and then click which PY (red or blue) and then click elsewhere in the doc to close the box the pops up, it’s very time consuming. I’m wondering if there’s a way to: a) highlight a series of numbers in a row to apply the tickmark to all at the same time AND b) to automatically have it add the blue PY…

  14. V6

I have mentioned this to my account manager but we need to have some form of password protection on Version 6 FSS projects.

We audit firms which hit different criteria and need to lock down audit files. The FSS component being changed now will make it hard to control as its not longer associated to the workbook (which was in a locked audit file).

We wont be using v6 until something like this is enabled unfortunately.

  15. Often datasnipper does not recognize the right PY range in the current and prior year financial statement. The user should have the ability to select a range for each page in the prior year financial statement and current year financial statement which will be compared and ticked to each other. Optionally it would be cool if datasnipper would learn those ranges and tries to apply it to other pages as for large umbrella funds it would safe a lot of time.

  16. Add the possibility in the FSS to add an extra document to check consistency with. Examples are: FS to TB recon, FS to budget sheet recon, FS to tax sheet recon, etc.

  17. Can a feature be added to the financial statement suite which allows the prior year check function to hold two sets of financial statements as the half-year accounts balance sheet is from June to dec and P&L from Dec to Dec.

  19. Version compare - ignore headers/footers option

We often use version compare to look at drafts of financial statements, each draft usual has something in the header/footer to show when the draft was made so when looking at these in version compare theres a huge amount of flagged changes that we don't need to look at.

So if a range at the top/bottom could be set to be ignored or if we could enter specific text strings to ignore i.e. the draft message then that would make things much cleaner and the tool significantly more valuable
