Identifying where the next snip goes in Excel
This idea would apply to all types of snips, but it would be nice if I could identify where I want sequential snips to be placed in Excel - i.e., either in the next cell below in a column or next cell to the right in a row.
For example, if I am going through a large PDF file, say. And I am adding one snip after the other, as it works now, those snips would always be added to the next colum in Excel (i.e., a snip in cell B1 would then move the next snip to C1).
But…

Change notification to 'File type not supported'
When importing a powerpoint file (which is a not supported file type by DS), user gets notification 'Document not imported. You have already imported these into DataSnipper'. This is misleading as it looks like the document is already imported (which is not the case). Instead of this notification, can we change the notification to 'File type not supported, try printing it to pdf before importing the document instead'. Or something similar :)

Redact text for multiple forms
Use form extraction to redact text fields over multiple of the same forms. An example could be redacting social security numbers on all payslips at once.

Consistency in decimal recognition
DS should make use of the standard method of decimal identification and apply that to all numbers within a document.
i.e. 8,930.15: ","is a thousand separator while "." is a decimal separator. If this is the standard for all numbers in a document, then a number presented as 45.118 should be read with "." as a decimal separator (not a thousand separator).

Auto name extraction by key / snip to name
Set key behaviour to help more accurately get it right automatically i.e. search left or above etc, a lot of forms the key wanted its directly left or above so if this could be set then when creating extractions with a lot of fields it would speed things up tremendously

Form extraction for specific pages
It'd be nice if I could designate which pages within a large PDF I want form extraction to be applied... let's say I have a 100 page PDF but I only want to perform some form of form extraction on 20 of those pages and they are dispersed throughout the 100 pages, it would be nice to set up the form extraction and then say, go apply this to pages 2-5, 7-11, 19-31, and so on and so. Thanks!

Delete Files without Snips
It would be nice to have the feature to remove all Files/Documents without snips not only all pages without snips. So the documents with snips stay in excel as a whole and the the documents not needed can be deleted easily

Add "conditions" to Document Matching
I was using DM the other day to compare cash payments that were summarized in an Excel file to bank statements that were provided to me by the client. I didn't have any data in the Excel file other than (1) a hardcoded date and (2) the amount that I was told was paid. I was attempting to match the amount paid from the Excel file to the bank statement (which I was able to do with a very high success rate). But this also got me thinking, what if I could refine the document matching to look for certain…

Quick/Mass Redact
Quick/Mass Redact - when needing to redact long documents for identifying information it'd be nice to be able to redact info you know appears through out i.e. company name / reg number quickly. Currently searching for these in the top right to find all instances and then manually redacting each so on long documents with a lot of identifying info this is quite laborious

Interface with ERP to obtain documents from the ERP directly
Request coming from financial control departments: next to having document matching, I'd love to have a plug in that can also automatically extract the documents related to the selected samples from the ERP system

Disable automatic datasnips search in documents
Recently, while using the program, I have noticed that it automatically searches for and retrieves snips of text from various documents. While this feature can be useful in most cases, it causes Excel crash very fast (even if imported documents are compresed). Therefore, I would greatly appreciate it if the automatic data snip search could be disabled by pressing an option button, similar to the calculation options in Excel.

OCR - Punctuation standardisation - apostrophes & quote marks
When running OCR on documents depending on font some punctuation, particularly apostrophes & quote marks, come out differently e.g. Group's vs. Group’s.
This causes issues when using the financial statement suite & version compare features in particular as a lot false changes get flagged which muddy the waters significantly. If logic can be built in so the characters used for apostrophes & quote marks are consistent across the board that would be ideal, I think this setting would be best as the default and having an option to switch back to…

Version compare - ignore headers/footers option
We often use version compare to look at drafts of financial statements, each draft usual has something in the header/footer to show when the draft was made so when looking at these in version compare theres a huge amount of flagged changes that we don't need to look at.
So if a range at the top/bottom could be set to be ignored or if we could enter specific text strings to ignore i.e. the draft message then that would make things much cleaner and the tool significantly more valuable

Enhanced Document Matching
I'm looking to enhance our current document matching capabilities with a feature that closely resembles the VLOOKUP function in Excel but extends this functionality to search within documents. The feature would streamline the process of verifying numerical amounts or specific data points against those listed within a given document.
The envisioned feature would work as follows: A user would input a unique identifier (e.g., a policy number, transaction ID, etc.), and the system would then locate this identifier within a selected document. Upon successful identification, it would prompt the user to define the data extraction parameters, allowing for the automatic…

Multi-tab template
When creating a working paper it would be useful to be able to create a complex working with multiple document match tests spread across tabs (and within 1 tab).
Saving this template would then save the selected tabs so that, when the template is used, all of those tabs, formulae across tabs, and DM settings are auto created in the excel working paper.2 votes
